"The Evolution into StatsByJoe"

August 2014: I walk into East Leyden for my first day of high school with no plans to resume my managing career, presumed over after the 3rd place win in volleyball. I took a trip to Hester to see former teacher, coach, mentor Cronin. This is where I was encouraged to manage the Leyden Football Team. The next day, I became the first Manager in Leyden Football history. Today, over 30 kids manage various Leyden sports. The root, many say,  comes from the fateful day I joined the Freshman's without pads. But at Leyden, football specifically, is where there once humble statistician evolved into StatsByJoe, the official stat Twitter handle of Leyden Sports as well as what many call my "calling, natural talent" with Joe's Takes, my blog on this site that gives a through analysis of the game, aftermath and moving forward.

Another slow start to begin, I only manged the 9-Game football season. Sophomore year, I expanded to become another Leyden 1st: 3-Sport Manager [football, basketball, baseball]. The only step left was achieved junior year (2016-17), when I joined and became the head manager/statistician for three varsity teams. After grabbing my 100th win vs. Prosser (V Basketball), I am on pace for over 300 games and still hold a winning record, despite a 6-21 season.

I have also been recruited to 7 different teams at Leyden to manage over winter and spring, been dubbed the "Best Manager at Leyden," and even received an offer from Illinois State University  and Northern Illinois University to manage.
